Your wife did a very sensible thing. By leaving half the property directly to the children, she has taken advantage of her exemption to minimise or avoid inheritance tax depending on the value of the property. The same is true the other way around by the way, you are now free to leave your half of the house to your children bypassing her too.
Technically each of you owns half the house rather than the whole house together so yes, you can sell your half. You would not get much for it as planning permission would be needed to convert into two separate residences and a buyer would hardly like to share with your wife.
Assuming that you intend to leave everything to your children, this is a great way to get the house into their hands. They will not be able to evict you and if you remarry you can always leave your half to your new spouse who will also be protected.
