Will The Playstation 3 Save Sony?

After Sony said that they would be cutting jobs, Katsuhiko Mori, fund manager at Daiwa SB Investments, said in an interview with the BBC: "Sony doesn't have any core businesses that generate stable profits". But will the Playstation 3 be able to save Sony?

Even though, some people may point out that ever since the Playstation 3 release in 2006, the console hasn't been making a profit. This is because of the simple fact that Sony are selling the consoles for less than it costs to make them. And it has been like that since the consoles release. Sony reduced the price below manufacturing costs on purpose so that they could attempt to break into the market.

Although it may seem odd, but Sony has used this tactic with every console they have released, PS1, PS2 and even though the competition is tougher, they even did it with the PS3.

Their plan is that they release a high spec console at a loss which will last for many years and eventually turn them in a profit. But will it be successful this time? With the high pressure competition that Microsoft creates while selling the Xbox 360, and the new type of market that the Nintendo Wii creates, will Sony manage to make enough profits to cover their losses?

The problem is that Sony will not start to reduce the price of the Playstation 3 until they start to make a profit. However as the consoles price is alot higher than the other consoles on the market, they won't get a huge section of the overall console sales, which, in turn will cause them to loose money for longer.

Although it sounds a bit rough for Sony, they do have one advantage up their sleeve, Blu-ray. It was lucky for them really that Blu-ray came out on top of the DVD battle. If HD DVD had won the battle, it could of turned out to be even worse for Sony as the Playstation 3 wouldn't have ahd any advantage over the competition.

So, at the moment, it's not looking good for Sony, also, with their release of their new online community, Playstation Home, already being shot down by Microsoft and EA. Both of them have said that Sony's latest attempt at creating an online community is not directed and out of date while moving in no direction.

Senior manager at Xbox 360 game console division, Aaron Greenberg, stated that "When they unveiled it, it seemed innovative. I think what's happened is now here we are a couple of years later and we feel beyond that. It feels like 2005 tech in 2008.".

Tom Hawkins said "I can't tell if they're going towards this mass market idea...or if they're being lured into essentially trying to compete with Warcraft or Second Life".

After Sony has spent alot of time and money on their new online community, it has just been shot down, personally to me it just seems like an idea of earning money, there are several things within the new world that requires money to buy, and they also have sections of the world which are sponsored by different companies like Red Bull. I'm sure that all gamers don't want to have to walk around while being spammed with adverts.

Overall, the future is not looking good for Sony, they are betting that the Playstation 3 will sell enough to make them money, which it currently isn't, so they won't reduce the price of the console until it is, but because the price is too high, buyers are being turned off. Who can tell what position Sony will be in if their Playstation 3 console doesn't start sell more units.

Low Oil Pressure for 2001 Sea Ray Bow Rider?

Just bought it used a year ago. Got Low Oil pressure light, added a gallon of oil and after out on water for an hour or two, got it again. Needs Oil again. I see Oil in the compartment, but i can't find a leak in any of the hoses, can't find anything loose...

Low oil pressure is not going to change by you adding oil on top of oil unless the engine were empty, at which point it would self destruct. It's spitting oil out into the bilge because it is grossly over-filled. You need to drain the oil out and start over. Use a Wix brand oil filter. Put a letter "R" after the part number on the oil filter so you get their high flow one. Pressure should come up. If your oil filter on that engine mounts vertical with the open side of the filter pointing straight up, then you can fill that filter with oil before you screw it onto the engine. It's called priming the filter.

Oil pressure is going to be related to tolerances inside the engine as well as viscocity. However, I would not simply go out there and throw a heavy oil in it, as that costs you power and fuel economy.
Try an oil called Royal Purple in a 10W30 weight. It's great for extended oil drain intervals, too.

Don't underestimate the possibility that there is a bad oil pressure sending unit to blame. It's a 50/50 chance.

'You Don't Have Any Talent' (TV Squad)

You are "famous for being famous," Barbara Walters told the women of the
Kardashian family -- Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and mom Kris Jenner --in their
interview as part of Walters' 18th annual '10 Most Fascinating People'
special.

And there was no sugarcoating it in the interview that aired last night.

"You don't really act; you don't sing; you don't dance. You don't have any --
forgive me -- any talent," Walters told the family.

"But we're still entertaining people," explained Khloe, as Kim chimed in
offering her thoughts:

"I think it's more of a challenge for you to go on a reality show and get
people to fall in love with you for being you, so there is definitely a lot
more pressure, I think for being famous for being ourselves."

But Walters wanted to know about what Kim is perhaps most famous for -- her
2007 sex tape with singer Ray J -- asking if in hindsight the sex tape was a
"good thing to have done?"

"I have made mistakes in my life, for sure," Kim admitted as mom and manager
Kris jumped in reminding her daughter with the obligatory comment, "You
learned a lot ...
