What are some good fish combinations for a 5 gallon tank?
I have a 5 gallon tank with a heater, light and a filter built in. I was wondering what are some good combinations of fish for a 5 gallon tank like this? I really want it to be interesting and colorful, and would like fish that aren't tail nippers, or aggressive. I have had about 3 years of aquarium experience however i would like to have a fairly low maintanence tank.

a single betta and a few ghost shrimp
a few white clouds (some people think a 5gallon is too small but it's generally considered the minimum)
a paradise fish (does not need the heater, but could be used to keep the temp steady)
1-3 male guppies
1 dwarf puffer (not even close to low maintenance though)
those are really your only options. if you've had 3yrs experience you should know what a tiny tank that is and that you'll have very limited options. you should also know that pretty much all general tropical tanks require the same care... about a 25% water change once a week using a gravel siphon.

they are right, a betta is a great option, but there are a few other options.

I did say that many people suggest 5gallons is not large enough for white clouds which are the only schooling fish I mentioned. I was simply putting the option out there because 5gallons is technically the minimum tank size for white clouds.
