What are some applications that would benefit from pressure welding rather than fusion welding and why?

Joining aluminium wire end to end.
1) No heat to damage the insulation.
2) Very difficult to do a fusion weld, very easy to do a pressure weld.
3) No problems with oxide or brittleness in the joint
4) Very cheap and simple equipment - little more than a fancy pair of pliers, really.
