Im about to finish installing my range hood (went from ductless to duct). In the manual, it says that a damper is optional. Im thinking the wall vent with flaps is sufficient to probhibit anything from coming in. Why would I need to install a damper/air flow controller on a range hood?
One reservation I have for installing a damper is that it would greatly affect the CFM.

I put dampers in as they are inexpensive (just got one for $5.00) and they can/may help save on heat or cooling loss. Studies have shown that a damper will easily pay for itself in normal use and depending on where you live etc. can save you money.
